This session revisited the importance of developing students’ phonics knowledge and explored how this might be achieved in an MFL context. It showcased some of the resources available on the NCELP resource portal for teaching phonics in French, German and Spanish.
Robert is Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics at the University of Oxford. His main research interests centre on instructed foreign language learning and teaching, particularly in school settings. He is interested in particular in the development of reading skills and strategies, the role of phonology in reading and the teaching of phonics. Robert started working with NCELP when it began in December 2018.
